Technical Writer/ Documentation Specialist

Location: Washington DC Metro Area

Position: Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist

Compensation: Salary Commensurate with Skill Level and Expertise

Education: BA in English, communication, or a related field

QSMI is seeking a technical writer to work part time, as needed! You will be part of an established team overseeing the updating and rewriting all types of documentation including policy documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

You will be responsible for:

  • Updating and producing high quality documentation that meets the applicable standards.
  • Reviewing, updating, and rewriting policies with the general public being the primary audience.
  • Supporting management and technical team to ensure that the information you provide is accurate and easy to understand.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in supporting information technology and policy writing efforts.
  • Experience in understanding legal, regulation, policies, procedures, and the ability to rewrite it into simple concepts.
  • Technical document and standard operating procedures writing.’
  • The ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.
  • Excellent written skills in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and graphic tools (Visio).
  • Able to work on-site at the customer or QSMI work site. Some tele-work may be authorized.
  • Proficient with writing of business and technical processes.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently as a member of a team, under strict timelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience updating policy documents and SOPs.
  • Experience following US Government Federal documentation and SOP guidelines.

US Citizenship is Required and must be willing to submit to a Background Investigation
